Sara F. Jacoby, PhD, MPH, MSN, FAAN

Sara Jacoby, PhD, MPH, MSN, FAAN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her research explores the social and ecological determinants of injury risk and recovery with focus on urban environments. This work includes research on operational, policy, and institutional intersections between trauma care and law enforcement and the impact that this intersection has on the experience of patients and other stakeholders across national and international trauma systems. The goal of this continuum of research is to build public health interventions and clinical strategies that support health equity and improve access to the services most needed to prevent injury and support vulnerable populations in the aftermath of trauma.

Dr. Jacoby is a member of SAVIR’s Advocacy and Policy Committee and Anti-racism Interest Group. At the University of Pennsylvania, she is a Senior Scholar of the University of Pennsylvania’s Injury Science Center (PISC), and a Senior Fellow of the Center for Public Health Initiatives and Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics. She received her BA from Rutgers College, MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, and BSN, MSN, and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
