I was honored to represent SAVIR at the 2nd Medical Summit on Firearm Injury Prevention, September 10th and 11th , 2022 in Chicago, IL. The Summit was hosted by the American College of Surgeons in collaboration with the American College of Physicians, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies. This important event was a follow up to 1st Summit held in 2019 which engaged over 45 major medical and injury prevention organizations in developing initiatives to support firearm injury prevention and 9 official Consensus Statements published in the Proceedings (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31108194/).

Call for Proposals, Opening Keynote Announced

Your conference planning committee is hard at work to make our next conference a great one.

A reminder that the call for proposals is now open. The deadline to submit is October 17, 2022. Authors are invited to submit abstracts and other proposals focused on research and research-based practice encompassing all aspects of injury and violence prevention.

We are excited to announce our opening keynote speaker for the #SAVIR2023 conference on April 17 in Denver Colorado! Dr. Debra Houry is Acting Principal Deputy Director of the CDC & has been Director of CDCinjury since 2014.

Communications Committee

Our committee is responsible for assembling the bi-monthly newsletters, keeping an active social media presence, and preparing promotional materials for the conference and other SAVIR events. With lots of different activities to keep us busy and a small committee roster, it means all our committee members are highly engaged and active in our work!
