During this continued period of increased stress, it is important to acknowledge that trauma affects people differently. The events of the last 18 months have indeed been traumatic and have permanently changed each our lives in some way. Be kind to yourself and to others. As we near the last few weeks of summer, I hope that each of you have taken the time to reflect on how you’ve adapted to these challenges and engage in some much-needed self-care to get through the weeks and months ahead

Mark your calendar for March 30-April 1 2022 - the SAVIR Conference will take place in Washington, DC with virtual access. The conference theme is “Injury Prevention for the Ages: Advancing Violence and Injury Research Across the Lifespan.”

The Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) is committed to antiracism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice within our scientific community and society at large. We strive to build a community of injury and violence prevention scientists, practitioners, and advocates who encourage and celebrate diverse voices and promote authentic engagement and empowered participation. The SAVIR Training and Infrastructure Committee (TIC) is charged with addressing the professional and academic training needs of SAVIR members and serving as a resource for the training needs of current and future professionals in the fields of violence and injury prevention and control. Our goals for the year are to continue developing new and exciting learning opportunities through our webinar series and the career paths project. We are also brainstorming ideas for new instructional resources aimed at SAVIR members and conducting a survey in conjunction with the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) that explores violence and injury prevention and control curriculum in schools and programs of public health.
