Since George Floyd’s violent death while in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department on May 25, 2020, the world has responded with protests and demands for change in the established systems of oppression and racism that have allowed such vicious acts to occur. The SAVIR Board of Directors has initiated a new interest group focused on anti-racism and moving anti-racist initiatives forward within the organization and our field. The first SAVIR Anti-racism Interest Group meeting was held on July 1st with 14 members in attendance. Two members – Shabbar Ranapurwala, PhD, MPH and Regan Murray, MPH, EMT – have volunteered to serve as co-chairs of the interest group. Read More
